![]() ![]() The “Mother Tongue” approach is based on Dr. Beyond just the physical and mental skills required to play an instrument, mastery gives a musician the freedom to play music from their heart. Success breeds success! By breaking down each skill and piece of music into the most basic units, students are able to carefully master each step along the way, building confidence, ease of playing and ultimate success in performance. I am just as passionate about teaching a beginning 4-year-old as I am teaching an advanced teenager preparing for college auditions, and every possible learning stage in between. Just like learning a language, playing an instrument becomes second-nature when a child starts early on in their lives. It’s never too late to learn an instrument! However, it’s much easier, more natural and more effective when a child gets an early start. The first Grand Prix was held 20 years ago to mark Feuermann’s centenary.Individual lessons provide all the tools the parent and child need to work together at home on their musical repertoire, technique and note-reading. Many aspects of a child’s development are nurtured during their lessons, including their sense of wonder, curiosity, discipline, memory, focus, creativity, co-ordination, fine motor skills, self-esteem, confidence and the deep satisfaction that comes with the ability to do something very well. ![]() The competition was named after Emanuel Feuermann, a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts until he was forced to emigrate in 1933. The competitors in the Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann 2022:įrom 2002 to 2014, the cello competition is held in Berlin every four years, accompanied with multiple concerts leading up to the event. The 2022 jury includes Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi (chairman), Anthony Elliott, Karine Georgian, David Geringas, Xenia Jankovic, Jens Peter Maintz, Jérôme Pernoo, Founder and Chairman of the Kronberg Academy Foundation Raimund Trenkler, and Hillel Zori. All winners of the Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann prizes will be announced directly after the concert. The winner of the audience prize will also be selected by listeners during this concert. The three finalists will perform cello concertos by Edward Elgar, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Robert Schumann alongside the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin directed by Joseph Bastian. Final: November 21, Berlin’s Haus des Rundfunks (Broadcasting House) Semi-Finals: November 19, Berlin University of the Arts Quarter-Finals: November 16 and 17, Chamber Music Hall of the Philharmonie Berlin The competition schedule will continue as follows: Performing artists will include cellists and former prize winners Giorgi Kharadze and Aurélien Pascal, violinist Alissa Margulis, and pianists Chiyan Wong and Julien Quentin. The competition will open – as it did 20 years ago at the first Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann - in the Great Hall of the Jewish Museum Berlin on November 15, featuring works by Francis Poulenc, Marc Bouchkov, Efrem Podgaits, and Johannes Brahms. Prize winners will be awarded up to €15,000 in prize money and will receive professional development support for their future musical careers. ![]() After an online preliminary round, the following three rounds will be held live at various locations across Berlin - such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Great Hall of the Jewish Museum Berlin, the Haus des Rundfunks, and the Berlin University of the Arts.Ĭompetitors in the second round, semi-final, and final will be performing with the ensemble Metamorphosen Berlin, members of the Boccherini Trio, and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, conducted by Josef Bastian. ![]() The fifth edition of the competition will be held from November 15 to 22, 2022. To celebrate the 120th anniversary of Emanuel Feuermann's birthday, which is November 22, 1902, the competition will offer audiences in Berlin a week of the most diverse cello repertoire performed at the highest level. In tribute to cellist Emanuel Feuermann, the Kronberg Academy and Berlin University of the Arts initiated the Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann international cello competition under the patronage of Daniel Barenboim. ![]()
